Future of 'Marketing Head' Navjot Singh Sidhu linked to performance of Capt Amarinder Singh

Future of Navjot Singh Sidhu depends upon Capt Amarinder Singh Ground Zero Jagtar Singh   In plain and simple words, the future of newly appointed president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu largely depends upon Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh whose record till yesterday is associated with wilful non-governance. At the practical level, Navjot is a high profile new head of the marketing division of the multiproduct company headed by Capt Amarinder Singh that is the Punjab government. The job   of Navjot is to market the product produced by this company. The state of affairs of the company is too well known as to keep it going, Capt Amarinder Singh had opted for outsourcing. The record of this company during the last four and a half years is dismal. There was no other competitor till 2019 and hence this aspect remained virtually under wraps. Challenge before Sidhu is to blunt strong anti-incumbency against Amarinder government

Challenge before Sidhu is  to blunt strong anti-incumbency against Amarinder government Ground Zero Jagtar Singh Induction of celebrity-cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu as the Punjab Congress President just a few months before the challenge of February 2022 Assembly election is a belated decision but finally, the ‘High Command’ has acted and acted decisively having become wiser from major mishaps in states like Madhya Pradesh. He too is perceived to be a loose c...

Sedition case against protesting farmers in Haryana is desecration of democracy Ground Zero Jagtar Singh   Sedition law is legacy of the colonial rule that was introduced by the British to crush democratic aspirations and struggle for freedom of the people living in this region. The British rulers left the partitioned Indian sub-continent in 1947 but the new rulers- our own- have continued with that draconian law that should have no place in a modern   and world’s biggest democracy going by the size of population. The problem is that those entrusted with running the affairs of the country at every level rather than being the public servants continue to behave as the rulers and by implication, those being ruled over are subjects, not equal citizens. This amounts to desecration of democracy. Such is the attitude of the rulers is that even ordinary protest is charged under sedition at times. As per the report in The Indian Express of July 14,   the S...
